Learning the language of the Spirit

Learning the language of the Spirit is a wonderful journey! I'm incredibly excited to embark on this exploration with you, diving into the profound and practical ways God communicates with us. At the heart of this journey is a fundamental truth: God is always speaking. If you've ever felt like you can't hear Him, it's often not because He's stopped speaking, but it's our invitation to align ourselves with Him and learn to perceive what He is saying.

While we sometimes look for an audible voice, God's primary language isn't always the one we speak. He more often speaks in a still, small voice or through our imagination. We have been given the mind of Christ. He speaks to us most frequently through impressions, pictures and visions. These divine communications can be quick, sometimes just split-second images, and we need to learn to take a risk with the fleeting thought.

For example, a brief picture of a human spine might indicate God's desire to heal someone's back. You might see a person and receive an image, or simply picture a colour, which could be the beginning of a prophetic word. It's important to understand that God has many different ways of speaking, and He may not use the same language with you that He does with someone else.

God doesn't just speak once. He often says something and then reinforces it in waves, sometimes multiple times. We are designed to pay attention to what He is saying. When we pick up on what He is highlighting, this understanding leads us to the principle of partnering with God. Once we hear what God is saying, the invitation is to respond and flow with Him. A crucial part of learning the language of the Spirit is consistently focusing on what God is doing. We can often spend too much time dwelling on our own concerns, but shifting our focus to God helps us grow in faith and better understand Him.

I encourage you this week to actively seek to hear God in all the ways He speaks and be open to partnering with Him in what you hear.
